My name is Jessica, a copywriter at Crossphase. During my one-year stay at the municipal organisation Stroomopwaarts, I:
“Keeping all balls up in the air, onboarding someone and managing our website project all at the same time; I have great admiration for Jessica!”
Until 2018, the communication team of Stroomopwaarts was part of the municipality of Vlaardingen. But from that year onwards, they wanted to stand on their own feet.
Stroomopwaarts also had one big wish: a new website. The current website was outdated, complicated, and not very customer-friendly while we were already asking a lot of our target audience.
Wat is Stroomopwaarts?
Stroomopwaarts MVS is responsible for Work and Income in the municipalities of Maassluis, Vlaardingen and Schiedam. In short: it supports inhabitants in finding work and helps organisations with social entrepreneurship.
“You are a tower of strength to your colleagues. You’re a teamplayer and always do what you say. Your colleagues greatly appreciate you.”
Even though I was hired as a copywriter, it soon became clear that the wishes of the organisation were different. That’s why I first tried to find out which role would best fit the needs.
This all started with the acquisition of all digital channels, which were - up until that point - ran and maintained by the municipality of Vlaardingen:
Besides creating my own role, I found it important to strengthen the team spirit. What was the raison d’etre of the new communications team. What are our tasks? And how do we, as an organisation, become more communicative? Together with my team I tried to find answers and create structure to these questions.
During the project, I received the role of project manager for the new website. What started out as a rough sketch, soon turned into a big project.
And all of that in collaboration with the rest of the organisation.
After a year at Stroomopwaarts I could relegate my tasks. Together with my manager and my colleagues, I found two internal employees who would continue my work successfully: they now have a real communications team.
“Jessica has a special gift to become part of a team, while keeping her healthy and critical professional attitude. She uses this quality to get better results. She always goes above and beyond in a unique and good way.”
